The parish priest of St Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Kiambu has asked unmarried Catholics to desist from using condoms as it is not in line with Christian teachings.

During the morning Mass yesterday, Fr Peter Mburu said the Bible prohibits sex outside marriage and Christians should follow its teachings. He said that advertising of condoms will promote immorality.

"The Catholic Church does not advocate for the use of condom as sex is a preserve of married people only who should be faithful to one another as it is taught in the Bible," said Fr Mburu.

Controversy sparked debate in the Church after an advertisement by Catholics for Choice based in San Francisco, US placed an advert near Consolota Shrine Catholic Church in Westlands, Nairobi urging Catholics to embrace condom use.
